I don’t think there is anywhere on the planet where you can count on catching multiple red drum in the 40- to 50-inch class by sight casting to acres of these fish visible on the surface. Lynnhaven is one of the seven original boroughs created with the city of Virginia Beach, Virginia was formed in 1963. The Lesner Bridge was not built at this time, but the train did cross Lynnhaven Inlet and went on to Cape Henry and Virginia Beach. The explorers surprised a group of Native Americans.

The waters are also seasonally populated by fishermen scoping puppy drum, speckled trout and flounder. This system is blamed for the widening of the Lynnhaven river.

OUR ISLAND. Lynnhaven is situated 5 miles south of Lynnhaven Inlet. Later that same year an extension was planned to the 55 foot pier in anticipation of extensive dredging of the Lynnhaven Inlet which would open up Broad and Linkhorn Bays to larger boats. The old parish of Lynnhaven takes its name from the Lynnhaven river, famous for its oysters; which, in turn, probably took its name from the town of Lynn, near the mouth of the river Ouse, in the county of Norfolk, in England. The calm waters of Lynnhaven Inlet provides the perfect conditions for fishing, sailing and windsurfing. Twelve days of rain followed this storm across Virginia.
